Maria Vamvakinou MP

Your Federal Member for Calwell

Ali Kitinas joined my office on Wednesday 28 November, 2018 as part of the Girls Takeover Parliament day organised by Jasiri Australia and the Alannah Madeleine Foundation.

The Girls Takeover Parliament program is inspiring young women and girls to be our national leaders. In a time where we need more women in politics, this youth-led program is inspiring leaders and girls to represent and stand up for gender equality. It’s starting conversations, changing futures and removing barriers.

“I’m so honoured to have been able to be apart of the Girls Take Over Parliament and to work alongside the Maria Vamvakinou MP. Getting the opportunity to meet and discuss with inspiring parliamentarians, about real issues that my generation are facing and actively pioneering change in, is something I am so grateful for," said Ms Kitinas

“This program provides young girls like myself with a voice in our most influential institution. It gives us the opportunity to make a tangible impact about issues that we are passionate about. I am so grateful to have gotten the chance to talk with Maria as a fellow Greek Australian woman who is leading by example for young girls like myself," she added.

I was proud to be one of the 31 Members of Parliament who participated in this program raising awareness of women and girl's issues at Parliament. It was great to see these fearless young women advocated for equal gender representation and an end to image based bullying.
